I’ve written about my friend Sunil before, and he’s back at his blogging (actually, he never quit) and now he’s sharing the “must have colors for Fall 2018.” Sunil is a fashion designer and write a fashion blog called “Sunil Styles.”
Of course you should read the article yourself, where he highlights the colors, shows examples of the fashions he’s seeing and shares tips on how to wear them this season. But I’m sharing his color selections here as a quick read for you, and I’ve included my takeaways from his fashion advice.
“Color is the most effective way to update your look and also make you feel ready to take on the season.” — Sunil
Power Red — all about individuality and standing out; strong color for accessories; one of the newest ways to wear it is to mix it with pink
Silver Grey — a very refined silver tint; great chic color for head to toe dressing; mix it with camel or orange for an edgier look
Pretty Pink — pairs well with both grey and brown; strong color for evening and surprisingly outer wear; it is perfectly okay to wear head to toe pink.
Chocolate Brown — luxury without the calories; warmer alternative to black (at Ruby Ribbon, we often call this color “mink brown”)
Winter White — looks great mixed with black and brown; white boots are a big trend this season; good color to transition you from Summer to Fall when mixed with denim
Sunny Spicy Yellow — signifies warmth and optimism; mixes well with grey and camel; big color for activewear
Bright Blue — great accent color; universally flattering; mix it with grey and black for a more sophisticated urban feel or contrast it with pink or orange for that wow factor
Vibrant Orange — great pop color for outerwear; pairs well with black and brown; ,ix it with grey and pink for an unexpected twist
Not so Basic Black — does not need to be basic and boring; black is all about texture from matte to gloss from smooth to quilted and from flat to pile; wear head to toe black or mix and contrast the textures for a modern take
Swing into Spring 2018 with the new Ruby Ribbon Swing Wrap Top in a gorgeous shade of orchid. This new top will becoming a bright spot in your closet and perfect for Spring.
It’s a true wrap top with a string tie that can be tied in either back or front. The flutterly (is that a word?) detail on the front hides a muffin top (I’m not saying you have one) or not. Be sure to wear your Ruby Ribbon cami under it if you want a bit less “showing.” This sleeve is specifically designed to both cover and accent your arms.
In sizes 3XL to XS, this top will look great on all body shapes. Pair it with our Split Skirt and boots for work, or toss on any pair of Ruby Ribbon leggings (so many choices), with some statement jewelry and flats and head out on the town in a more casual look.
News from Sunil R of #sunilstyles blog:
“One of my personal favorites this season is the slew of pale pinks I am seeing. They are fresh and go so well with both grey and brown.Think of it as the new nude. There are more pale pink bags and shoes in the stores this season than I have ever seen.”

This Fall is about all the divine wine tones, according to Sunil from #sunilstyles. Do add shades of Merlot, Bordeaux, Cabernet or Port to your wardrobe for a swish of contemporary style.
This is the perfect alternative to black in terms of shoes and bags if you are looking to update.

All you Chocolate lovers have reason to rejoice you have great calorie-free versions to indulge in this Fall. Shades of Cocoa are making a big comeback.
Opt for head to toe dark chocolate or mix it with winter white, cream, camel and tan for sophisticated tonal dressing.

Shades of Grey are creating a fresh perspective for Fall. Sunil from #sunilstyles says this is a great transition in to the more darker shades and perfect to wear now. Grey is also establishing a strong presence in evening wear as soft silvery tones offer an alternative to the black standard.
Sunil from #sunilstyles wrote about the up and coming colors for fall this week, noting that black is the number one color this fall once again, no surprise here. (Good that it’s something we all have in our wardrobes.
He goes on to add that the “must have” color of the season is Power Red, with four of the top five fashion magazines recommending it. It is bold and powerful and makes a statement while inspiring confidence.

While black, white and pale are my best sellers in Ruby Ribbon camis, women love to have color in their lingerie.
This month we are launching two gorgeous new colors in our Lace Collection — Teal and Wine! Both come in both Classic and Full Support and will fit women from 32B to 46K bra sizes. (Women with a D cup or higher should go up one bra band size for best fit) The Lace style also runs a little longer so some women like that they tuck in further too. I wear the Classic style often and I can’t wait to add a teal cami to my lingerie drawer!
While the new colors are a hostess-only option for September, it won’t be long until all of you can have them in October! Be ready to add some color when you say “Bye Bye Bra!” In the picture, the camis are shown with matching Shaping Briefs.

As I landed in Dallas this morning for the annual Ruby Ribbon stylist conference (we call it Runway), I couldn’t help but chuckle.
As a fan of the North Dakota State University football team, I’ve been to Dallas several times when the team has played in the national championship game. The team has a strong fan following and during the trip, you will encounter many other fans at the airport, on the streets of Dallas and the suburbs, in restaurants and shops, pretty much everywhere! And you can recognize them by what they’re wearing — green and gold, the team’s colors.
As I was in the airport and getting to my hotel for this conference, I grinned because I realized the similarities just then. While I wasn’t watching for green and gold, I was on the lookout for Ruby Ribbon fashions. As you can guess, with hundreds of Ruby Ribbon stylists converging on the same place, anywhere you look, you can easily recognize us by our fashion.
See what I mean? It’s the clothing that is making my friends, even those I haven’t yet met, recognizable, both when I’m hear for football and when I’m hear for training, recognition, and to see the new 2017 Fall Collection.
There is one other similarity too — both of these reasons to visit Dallas are just a whole lot of fun!
Here’s to a great few days in Dallas, lots of fashion and fun, and lots of learning to help build for the future!

PS: I think some of the hottest items being worn this week by Ruby Ribbon stylists are the Pleated Mesh Dress, Tuck Tunic in Smudge and the Criss Cross Leggings (both black and sapphire camo).
If you find yourself wearing neutrals most of the time, take a chance and dare to be colorful.
To play it a little safe, combine a neutral, such as camel, with a bolder color like red or pink. Or try two colors that are next to each other on the color wheel, like coral and orange. Look to the colors that you truly love in other places in your life and add those to your wardrobe.
