Cozy for a winter day

A cozy piece to pack for the weekend, our new Lux Tunic is going to become a staple in our wardrobe.
This tunic-length sweater features a cowl neckline that is so flattering. A fun fashion tip is to fill in the neck with a chic scarf to add a layer of warmth. It’s not cashmere, but it feels so soft.
Pair it with leggings (you know where to get the best) and boots and you have the perfect winter look.  Or belt it with a cute pencil skirt, add tights and you’re off to the office. You can get it in either Wine Heather or basic Black, and as always, comes in sizes XS to 3XL.

They're back!

One of the newest fashion trends hitting the streets may catch you a little off guard. You may have worn them in the 80’s and guess what, they’re back!  Introducing our chunky cable knit Leg Warmers in black. (Why said history didn’t repeat itself?)
legwarmer_black_frontTo get you into the leg warmer mood, I thought I would share a few tips on how to style them in the most trendy ways:

  1. Pull them over your jeans — your skinny jeans and any shoe will take on a fresh look (let them rumple a little – leg warmers aren’t meant to be stretched flat)
  2. Let them peak out of your calf-height boots — More texture, some additional warmth (maybe at an outdoor sporting event), and total style
  3. Pair them with a heel – check out the picture on the right for how to pull off this slouchy look.
  4. Stay warm on your commute — For those of you that need to walk outside in skirts and dresses this winter, leg warmers are a great option to keep you warm and then take them off at the office if they don’t “go” with your look
  5. Share them with a friend — as a stocking stuffer for a millennial… or her super cool Mom!

So, who’s ready to rock the new Ruby Ribbon Leg Warmers.

Light and floaty Layered Tunic delivers

When I saw this Layered Tunic, I knew immediately it was going to be one of my personal favorites in this collection.  It’s light and floaty with a mix of chiffon and jersey knit.
While it looks like two pieces, the draped “jacket” is attached to the body of the top, so it’s all one piece. I LOVED it in the Spruce color (and could already envision it with the black Jacquard Leggings), and later I realized that we also can get it in black. I find that I can always find space in my closet for another black tunic, don’t you?

What to wear with the Spruce?

  • Black — of course, like the Ankle Leggings or the Ponte Leggings or the Bootcut Leggings or the Panel Leggings or the Ottoman Ponte Leggings (So. Many. Choices.)
  • It will be gorgeous with the Stretch Woven Pants in either color — mink brown or black
  • Try it with the Asymmetric Skirt for a dressier look
  • Next spring, pair it with the gray or black Criss Cross Capri Leggings (or don’t wait – go on vacation so you can try this outfit now!)

What to wear with the Black?

  • Suedette Leggings in ANY of the five colors — camel, wine, gray, spruce or black – you can’t go wrong
  • In the spring, the black will be chic with the white Jacquard Leggings
  • Pair it with our sapphire Slim Leg Pants or Flounce Skirt for a “breaking the rules” look
  • Maybe even try it with our Sequin Skirt? Who knows?

Introducing our first coat!

The Stretch Woven Coat is the first time that Ruby Ribbon has done outerwear, and you’ll be impressed.
This coat is a “must have” this season and features:

  • Stretch and comfort and it’s fully lined too
  • An exact match to our Stretch Woven Pants (same fabric too in black)
  • Unique military detailing
  • A zipper that can be zipped from both the top and the bottom
  • A tailored look with on-seam pockets
  • A fun button and belt detail on the back
  • Leather piping detail too – look closer

It may not be a “coat” in the North Dakota sense of the word, but I’m certain it will fit the bill as a layering piece or a coat depending upon where you are.

This could not be more on trend – our Choker Plunge Top

Look anywhere right now and you’ll see that Ruby Ribbon’s design team is in tune with the trends. Not only are we debuting a Choker Plunge Top in two color options, but many other lines also are offering them.
Ours is light and soft and gathered at the shoulder. In a Deep Sea and a Wine tone, these tops will be perfect for many events you’re attending this season. With a bracelet-length sleeve, you’ll be able to show off your favorite bling, and there’s really no need for any other jewelry.
This top is a longer length that can be easily tucked in or worn out. Pair with skirts, our Palazzo Pants, or the ponte pants we’re known for. Either of these colors will be perfect with both black and mink brown.

Moto Chic!

We’ve had a skirt and a dress, so let’s complete the “Moto Chic!” options with the newest Ruby Ribbon legging, the Ottoman Ponte Legging. (We had to do it, we’re known for our leggings – comfortable, slimming, smoothing, great textures, delightful details).
This cool and sleek look in leggings will “wow” you, and you’ll be amazed at how figure flattering that ottoman detail is — panels in just the right places.
Think of these as your favorite Ruby Ribbon leggings, only kicked up a notch. You’ll style them the same way, but maybe with a little more edginess, a bigger buckle on your boots, a bit more kick.
If it’s time to replace one of your black leggings, maybe these are just what you need?

Ottoman moves to a dress

Yesterday I told you about ottoman fabric and how it’s used in our new Winter season skirt to give a “moto” look.
Today, I’m introducing you to the Ottoman Ponte Dress, which is also designed to give that edgy vibe including a non-functional zipper detail, faux pockets and a bracelet-length sleeve. (It does have a functional zipper on the back too)

It’s shown here with the Ruby Ribbon black belt; I can also see it with an energetic scarf and here where I come from, we’ll be wearing it with books and tights. Or, who would dare to wear it with our new Fur Scarf?

What's Ottoman and what does it have to do with a skirt?

One of the themes of the Ruby Ribbon Winter and Holiday line is a fabric called Ottoman. It was new to me too, so I had to look it up.
ottomanponteskirt_black_frontOttoman is a fabric with a pronounced ribbed or corded effect, often made of silk or a mixture of cotton and other silk like yarns.
Our Ruby Ribbon designer used an Ottoman fabric on several pieces this season, including what I can only describe as a “super cute” skirt. I expect this new skirt to replace a staple skirt in my current wardrobe.
The ottoman fabric is mixed with our signature Ponte in a “moto” look. The ottoman panels are strategically placed on this straight skirt to give a slip hip effect. I say it regular that Ruby Ribbon clothes are designed to be figure flattering and this is just one example.
If you are a skirt wearer like I am, you are going to find some  fun ways to wear this new Ottoman Ponte Skirt. It’s both office appropriate (think Bell Sleeve Top and Ponte Jacket) and weekend approved (worn with our pink Dance Top and a Judi Cardigan maybe).  Use your imagination to really find the ways to stretch the value of this new skirt.

Your "go to" top this season

Our Bell Sleeve Top is sure to be a hit with many women this season with its wrap silhouette and ruching on the sides. It’s flattering and comfortable and made to go with so many outfits.  And the bell sleeves, so comfy.
This top comes in black, but it also comes in this fun “ruby camo” pattern too. Ruby camo is shades of wine and black.
Pair the black with well, black, and then add in some color for the fun of it —  red, teal, blue, soft yellow, whatever is your “thing.”  It’s also shown below with our new Printed Leggings in three patterns to chose from.
Pair the “camo” with black pants or skirts, and then add one of our favorite Ruby Ribbon jackets to bring it up to an even more professional level. You are going to find so many ways to wear this print.

The most popular tunic out there…hands down!

As my friends and clients have reviewed the new pieces in the Winter and Holiday Collection, the new Suedette Tunic is the most popular, by far!
This versatile piece is made of a fall favorite, our “Suedette” which is a faux suede that can’t get any softer, really. First, we had the leggings in five fashion colors, and now we’ve added this tunic that can be worn with or without the belt that’s included.
With a light stretch built into the tunic, you’ll find it super easy to wear. Wear it alone as a fun dress (with tights and boots or even our new leg warmers). The model on the left added the Ruby Ribbon belt and buckle too. Be sure to notice the pockets.
Or, the mid-thigh length means it will look awesome with almost any of the Ruby Ribbon leggings – think the new Ottoman Leggings, or the Bootcut Leggings, or the black Denim Leggings or the standard Ankle Leggings — someone please stop me!
I hope you also notice that the model on the right chose to wear it backwards and, guess what, I think it looks great that way too. Don’t you?
